The mega anchor of the project is centered around ballroom dancing. A classic form of exercise to inspire a modern day athletic club. Six types of ballroom ceilings were chosen and stitched together to form one large ceiling system which then informs the floor plan materiality and movement. Beneath this massive ceiling lies a modern day athletic club, designed specifically for the user to gain their maximum amount of steps within a space while engaging in physical activity. Each ceiling type reflects to a corresponding floor texture that varies in roughness and difficulty in navigating across, in turn allowing for more calories to be burned and more steps to be counted. With today's obsession of counting steps, the project brings parody to the use of the building.
